[THN/APL] Free MP3 Download Releases in 2006: THN084/THN083/

For it seems there is (heavy) snow coverage all
around we would like to provide a properly
accompaning soundtrack for if you decide to hit
the streets. We're glad to see it's Nulleins returning
to Thinner after a rather long abscene.
20.02.2006 [THN084] Nulleins - Seven Spaces
FILE UNDER: Earthy Organic Dubtech Album
Particularly in the "electronic dub" segment, LP
releases are prone to become slightly tedious when
listened to in their full length, due to the genre's
inherent bias towards lengthy and monotonous tracks.
In addition, the absence of vocals and traditional
song structures often makes it even more difficult to
keep one's ears focused after two or three tracks.
Achieving a high degree of diversity therefore has to
be an important goal for a near-60-minutes release.
Seven Spaces fulfills this requirement by alternating
between organic, soothing, earthy pieces and "classic"
rolling dub-techno tracks stuffed with lots of reverb
and echoes - the latter already well-known from
previous Nulleins EPs on Thinner.

FILE UNDER: Chamberdubs live at the Church
Recorded live in a unique environment “Johanniskirche”
Church in Düsseldorf, the first liveset release by Move D
is a pulsating, thrilling and comfortable intersection
between Funk, Ambient and carefully crafted Minimalism.
(14 tracks - 78min 51sec - 111.08 MB)
An optional CDR Version is available that contains the
original masters without mp3 compression artefacts and
gapless audio.
18.01.2006 [THN083] Alta Infidelidad - Cactus Y Volcanes
FILE UNDER: Trippy Chilean Minimalism
For this release, Receptor and Christian Dittman from hot
Santiago de Chile team up to compress their associative,
trippy sound on and on, with continously compact melody
fragments over soundeffects. At times they let soundeffects
run against each other and have the sample elements
communicating with each other in a virtuose way. A bipolar
team play, an allegory similar as the reach from north and
south of the chilean country. Although it feels dry and
dusty by times, the soul within is deep and emotional.

Epsilonlab vs Thinner *DVD*: “Silence is Presence”
The DVD features music that can be described as dub-
inspired, ambient, rhythmic, tech-house, electro and
occasionally hypnotic or spellbinding. As for visuals,
an original unifying concept guided VJs as they produced
each of the video clips: the presence of the same dancer/
actor throughout, the use of a specific color, and a
series of keywords. Based on these keywords, Montreal
poet and linguist Dessavage created subtitles. A rarity,
the subtitle options are in fact a complementary artwork
set in relation to the DVD´s audiovisual content. Dessavage
explored two distinct concepts for the French and English
versions. Martin Bélanger, a Montreal-based choreographer,
dancer and performer, generously offered his time to play
the DVD´s main protagonist.
This project was produced under the artistic direction
of Les Passagers, recipients of the grand prize for best
digital animation at the recent Grafika awards for their
video-clip, "Miss", which is included on the DVD.
